Halloween and other traditions: innocent fun or sinister rituals?

The word Tradition is defined as the handing down from generation to generation of the same customs, beliefs, etc., especially by word of mouth.’

Every culture has traditions, the meaning and origin of which is generally not understood by most followers of such traditions. For example, Halloween will be celebrated on Oct. 31st all across America and Canada, and parts of Europe by millions of people who have no idea about the origins and meaning of this annual ritual. Sadly, most people do not concern themselves with even attempting to understand the real meaning of traditions, and of symbols, such as that of the crucifix. The Bible has much to say about traditions, and generally condemns these practices which people engage in simply because they were handed down to them from generation to generation. The majority of participants in traditional activities do so mindlessly but there are a minority few who understand the roots and real meaning of the tradition who deceptively encourage others to participate in such activities for their own nefarious reasons.

It is obvious that if generations gone by had been good and wise, they would have left us a world of peace and brotherly love, not one of constant turmoil and warfare. Though there have been brief episodes of peace and tranquility in human history, these have been few and far between. The rule has been one of brutal warfare and horrific bloodshed and sacrifice including that of innocent children by the millions. So should we following in the footsteps of previous generations, and celebrating the traditions they left us, even when these traditions are drowning in blood?

Halloween, for example is one such tradition that is a celebration of death and corruption of the human condition, both from a bodily and spiritual perspective. It truly was an event of horror where many innocent people were terrorized and even sacrificed in horrific ceremonies. Although the true history of Halloween has been much sanitized and glamorized over the past 100 years, there still exist writings from the 19th century and earlier that revealed the true satanic origins and practices of this festival. All pagan cultures, such as that of the Celts and Druids of the British Isles have practiced ritual human sacrifice, and Halloween, which in reality is the Druidic festival of Samhain (pronounced Sah-win), was the biggest festival of the year from pre–Roman times, almost always culminating in the most horrific human sacrifices, mostly that of children. Don’t be fooled by the innocuous sounding histories of Halloween that most Google searches will bring up today.

THE TRUE HISTORY OF HALLOWEEN

The real origin of Halloween is the Celtic Festival of Samhain, the lord of death and evil Spirits (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1988, volume 5, p. 646). Long before Jesus Christ ever walked the streets of Jerusalem, druids in Britain, Ireland, Scotland, France, and Germany observed the end of summer by making sacrifices to Samhain. The Celts considered November 1st as being the day of death because the leaves were falling, it was getting darker earlier and temperatures were dropping. They believed Muck Olla, their sun god was losing strength and Samhain, the lord of death, was overpowering him. Further they believed that on October 31st Samhain assembled the spirits of all who had died during the previous year. They believed that these spirits had been confined to inhabit animal's bodies for the past year as punishment for their evil deeds. They were allowed to return to their former home to visit the living on the eve (Oct. 31) of the feast of Samhain. Druid priests led the people to diabolical worship ceremonies in which horses, cats, black sheep, oxen, human beings and other offerings were rounded up, stuffed into wicker cages and burned to death. This was done to appease Samhain and keep spirits from harming them.

HALLOWEEN HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CELEBRATION OF DEATH. This is the origin of bonfires. The word bonfire actually comes from "bone fire" which was all that was left after the sacrificial ceremonies were ended. Even many mainstream publications have acknowledge the murderous and gruesome roots of this day but generally sugar coat it and claim that nowadays it is just harmless fun. Inviting evil spirits by dressing up as ghosts and goblins and witches and the dead is not harmless, it is an invitation to Satan and to his evil hordes to take up residence in and around those who participate in such rituals. It is first and foremost a worship of Satan, the lord of death, worshiped in these days are Samhain or Baal, the ancient Canaanite deity to whom children, especially firstborn infants were offered at a mind boggling rate.

Halloween. That was the eve of Samhain . . . firstborn children were sacrificed. . . Samhain eve was a night of dread and danger. (National Geographic. May 1977, pp. 625-626)

While Halloween masquerades as childish fun and frolic, it’s serious business in the occult world. Witchcraft, Wicca, Satanism and paganism believe, on the night of Halloween, devils and spirits are unleashed. They perform their most hideous and potent rituals on the night of Halloween.
Samhain: This is the "Witch’s New Year" and the primary Sabbat from which all others flow. (RavenWolf, Silver. Teen Witch, p. 42)

Halloween is one of the four major Sabbats celebrated by the modern Witch, and it is by far the most popular and important of the eight that are observed. . . Witches regard Halloween as their New Year’s Eve, celebrating it with sacred rituals. . . (Dunwich, Gerina. The Pagan Book of Halloween, p. 120)

Halloween is also among Satanism’s most cherished days. Anton LaVey, founder of The Church of Satan and author of The Satanic Bible writes: After one's own birthday, the two major Satanic holidays are Walpurgisnacht (May 1st) and Halloween. (LaVey, Anton Szandor. The Satanic Bible, p. 96). This is the real reason why May 1st or May Day was such an important date in Godless and purely evil and Satanic former Soviet Union where some 60 million plus people were mass murdered in just three decades.

Satanic High Priestess Blanche Barton, on The Church of Satan web site, praises Halloween: It [Halloween] gives even the most mundane people the opportunity to taste wickedness for one night. They have a chance to dance with the Devil . . . I see Satanists all over the world meeting in small groups this night and Hallowe’ens 500 years hence, to raise a glass to the Infernal Hosts. . .

The Satanic Calendar decrees for Halloween: "One of the two most important nights of the year. . . Blood and sexual rituals. Sexual association with demons. Animal and human sacrifice—male or female." (www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/satanic_calendar.htm)

Former occultist Johanna Michaelsen reveals, "Halloween is also a prime recruiting season for Satanists." (Michaelsen, Johanna. Like Lambs to the Slaughter, p. 192)

The 1973 English movie Wicker Man with Christopher Lee, and the 2006 remake with Nicholas Cage are modern day versions of the festivals of Beltane (Spring), and of Samhain (Fall), and in these movies, as in real life, death was worshiped by putting people to death. During the festival of Samhain (pronounced Sah-win) it was believed that the doors between the dimensions of the living and that of the dead were opened and creatures from the spirit world could pass over into the world of the living. People were told by powerful druid priests that by dressing up as ghouls and demons, they would blend in with the spirits, and the spirits would be fooled into thinking that the person so dressed was just one of them. How foolish is this explanation as if spirits would truly be that stupid as to not be able to distinguish between flesh and blood and themselves, even if the living person adorned a ghoulish costume? No, the real reason the priests, who were worshippers of Satan, offered their followers such asinine explanations for these gruesome activities was to hide the fact that was by dressing like the dead, the people were worshipping death, and in so doing they were in fact attracting to themselves the spirits of death and evil.

This allowed the spirits of evil that inhabit our physical space but are ethereal beings to use these witting or unwitting human hosts to fulfill their evil desires of sexual perversions, and their bloodlust, their insatiable appetite for shedding blood, especially that of children. In essence the human hosts threw open the doors to their souls and bodies wide open, and invited demons and other other-worldly creatures to come and do with them what they pleased. To this day Halloween celebrations are initiation ceremonies in which children from a very young age are been initiated or conditioned to accept the macabre and ghoulish world of the evil dimensions of the spirit world as normal and fun. They are taught that engaging in the worship of death and evil brings sweet rewards, thus the sugar coating of evil by handing out of candies to children.

Even the Jack-o-Lantern was originally not a pumpkin but a severed human head. This is the reason why the pumpkins have eyes and nose and mouth carved into it to represent a macabre human head. Bonfires that were lit during Halloween all over Europe were literally Bone-fires; this was the ceremony in which the bones of sacrificed victims were mixed with timber and set on fire. Even the candles and lamps that were lit in those days, and especially on Halloween, which is a shortened form of ALL HALLOW’S EVENING, were sometimes made out of the fat of the victims that were burnt in the sacrificial fires the year before. Trick or Treat was not intended for the purpose of making kids happy but rather treats were left out in front of houses to appease the evil dead and other spirits that supposedly were walking around on this night so that they wouldn’t play any tricks on them such as burning them in the fires of sacrifice. The druids actually chose their victims beforehand, and on this night the one that was tricked (chosen to be sacrificed), usually a child was forcibly taken from the home, and the distraught parent told that their treats were not accepted by the spirits and therefore this cruel trick would be played upon them or else the whole community would suffer. It was truly a dreadful night for the simple peasants for they knew not who would be the victim of the cruel and horrific tricks that would result in death before the night was over.

Human sacrifice, especially of infants and children is not an exception in human history but rather the norm, up into very recent times. For example, in the temple of Kali in Calcutta, India, a male infant was sacrificed every day until the early 19th century when the British put an end to this practice, at least overtly. The Mayan and Aztecs and other indigenous peoples of North and South America had perfected human sacrifice to an art form. I have visited Chicen-Itza in Mexico where the Mayans sacrificed people by the thousands, possibly millions atop the pyramids that exist to this day. Such rituals were graphically depicted in Mel Gibson’s movie, Apocalypto. Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom was another movie in which a sacrifice to the goddess of death, Kali, was graphically displayed. Covertly human sacrifice is still practiced in India, and Asia, and Africa to this very day. It should surprise no one that reports of such human sacrifices in Europe and the Americas are commonplace even in these times. Perverse sexual rituals culminating in blood sacrifice have been a part of all cultures since at least the days of Abraham after the flood. And State sanctioned human sacrifice has been far more common in human history than is taught by academics or acknowledged by anthropologists, who more often than not are apologists for such satanic horrors rather than recoiling in horror that our history is so filled with horror. Beginning with Abel, who was killed by Cain, the Earth is soaking in the blood of those who have lost their lives to non-natural causes such as through warfare. However ritual human sacrifice is as much a part of human history, as is warfare, and lives sacrificed in this manner surely number in the hundreds of millions if not billions.

This is a very wicked scene in which a human sacrifice is performed on film. It is more than just entertainment; this is Hollywoods' way of doing homage to their gods while desensitizing people to viewing such unspeakable evil as mere entertainment or a ritual that empowers the practitioner.

It would surprise most people who are ignorant of true history that countless ancient societies have whole heartedly embraced ritual human sacrifice in the past, and it is so-called celebrations such as that of Halloween that are once again laying the ground work for the re-Paganisation of the modern world, to  revive these ancient horrors once people have been sufficiently desensitized (hardened of heart) to accept them as normal, and even fun, just as culture after culture, and society after society have done in the past. Worship of the macabre, and of the gruesome, and of death can only result in death, and other gruesome and macabre rites and rituals. And kids who are trained from a very young age to accept these things as normal and fun will have no problem growing up and playing real deadly tricks upon one another as their ancestors did. This conditioning is not only a one time affair on Halloween night but is a 365 days a year, 24/7 operation through mass media. Movies and books such as The Hunger Games and The Purge are laying the groundwork for a nationwide, possibly worldwide day or several days in the year on which ritual human sacrifice will be offered in a setting of fun and games and a time of revelry. And who would be surprised if the biggest of these ‘celebrations’ would just happen to fall on Halloween?

Beware of traditions; I have not discovered one tradition, be it Easter or Christmas, or St. Patrick’s day or any other such celebration time that is not rooted in evil. This is the reason why Jesus thoroughly condemned the Pharisees for valuing traditions more than the Word of God as written in The Holy Bible. Ultimately God has given us a mind to be able to understand the reasons for our actions, whether they are spiritually sound or not; He has warned us time and again not to blindly follow our forefathers who were not wise or just in their actions. If you do not understand something, don’t do it just because it is an ancient tradition. More likely than not the spirit, the motivating force behind such traditions will be Satan and his demonic hordes of hell. Don’t participate in any traditional activity or ritual you do not understand the origin of, for you may unknowingly be participating in a satanic evil ritual.

The following are scriptures from the Bible that warn us about the traditions of men.

Matthew 15:6 ….Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
Colossians 2:8, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ”.
1 Peter 1:18, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers”.
The words ‘vain conversation’ as used by the apostle Peter in the above scripture mean a lifestyle that is to no purpose, is vain, empty, fruitless, aimless. It is building houses on sand, chasing the wind, shooting at stars, pursuing one's own shadow. Following traditions blindly is like a dog chasing his tail; it gets us nowhere, and wears us out mentally and spiritually.
1 Thessalonians 5:21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good”.
‘Prove’ means to test, to try out, to reason out, to dissect and then and then only to believe that which can withstand the test of truth. Reject everything else!!!

  1. Thank you Paul, very informative.
The basic childhood tendency to pretend to be someone else during play is also what is being tapped into and redirected in a negative direction.
Being in tune spiritually, one cannot help feeling the raw evil that rubs right up against this thin veil of everyday existence on Halloween...a difficult thing to express to those having so much fun on this day.
And as you mention, we should be wary of all the holiday traditions.

    1. Evil surrounds us 24/7 especially in the age where information is shared instantly through digital transmission. However, the purpose of these high (un)holy days like halloween is to open portals for more evil things to channel themselves through willing hosts, who are generally unaware of what they are doing. Many of those who make contact with these evil spirits on this night, whether they are aware of it or not, later in life become conduits for evil. These are the kids that will grow up to be adults who will defend evil with all their might. They will pass legislation to legalize all forms of abominable evil. They will become the high priests of Satan in one form or the other even if they do not wear pentagrams or have their bodies covered in tattoos. They may wear Armani suits but they will have been so hardened to sin and evil, so desensitized that they will not even recognize the horror that the world around them will have become just as their forefathers who cheered and made music and reveled, even as little infants were burning in the fires in front of them did not see the horror of their actions! I dread to think what the world will be like in 20 years’ time.
